A mythic, metaphysical comedy from Stratford Festival favourite Jessica B. Hill. Pandora may have unleashed the world’s troubles, but in this smart and searching solo play she also discovers unexpected connections between ancient myth and modern science, where quantum entanglement collides with the mysteries of being human.

*This production is a presentation of the world premiere, which was co-produced by Prairie Theatre Exchange and Shakespeare in the Ruins in 2023.

Meet the Team

  • Rodrigo Beilfuss

    DIRECTOR

    Rodrigo Beilfuss is a theatre director, actor, and educator. Since 2019, he has been the Artistic Director of Winnipeg’s Shakespeare in the Ruins (SIR). Former member of the Stratford Festival (2015-2019), Rodrigo has trained at the University of Winnipeg, the Birmingham Conservatory, and LAMDA in the UK. He has participated in over 20 Shakespeare productions and dozens of premieres of brand-new Canadian works, and he is a graduate of Stratford’s Michael Langham Workshop in Directing. Rodrigo has taught at Canada's National Theatre School and has led workshops across Canada, in the US, and in his native Brazil. His work focuses on language as a sonic and sensual experience, with a passion for translations and cultural adaptations.

Pandora first premiered at PTE in 2023, a coproduction with SIR. First drafts of both The Dark Lady and Pandora were originally commissioned for staged readings by Here for Now Theatre. Jessica is currently playwright-in-residence with Necessary Angel Theatre in Toronto. She teaches Chekhov at the National Theatre School. Instagram: @jessicabhill

    DESIGN

    With a diverse background in visual art, dance, theatre, opera, and music, jaymez brings a unique and multifaceted approach to design, refined over two  decades of professional practice. He has worked as a production designer, crafting dozens of lighting, video, and sound designs for a wide array of directors, choreographers, artists, and musicians. His artwork and designs have garnered international recognition across multiple continents, and two Winnipeg Theatre Awards back home.
