TRAVEL INFORMATION

  • Fly into one of the nearby international airports. The closest major airport is Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), about 90 minutes from Stratford. Other options include London International Airport , about 60 minutes away, and Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF), about 45 minutes away. From the airport, you can rent a car, take a shuttle, or use bus services to reach Stratford.

  • VIA Rail offers direct service from Toronto's Union Station to Stratford. The scenic train ride takes about 2 hours. See the ViaRail website for train schedule.

  • Bus services like FLiXBUS provide connections to Stratford.

  • Stratford is about 1.5 hours west of Toronto and 40 minutes north of London, Ontario. Major highways, like Highway 401 and Highway 7/8, make the drive scenic and straightforward.

  • A limited number of metered parking spaces sit directly in front of the theatre. Further metered parking is available on Ontario Street, with paid lots on York Street, Erie Street, and at the corner of St. Patrick and Church Streets. Most locations are a 5-10 minute walk from the theatre. 

    Some free street parking exists in the neighbourhood, but please pay attention to signs as it is not permitted on all streets.

    Metering is enforced by the City of Stratford. Please check to see what hours metered parking is enforced. The meters take quarters, loonies and toonies, or you may download the Hot Spot Parking app and use your credit card. 

    We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to find parking, especially during Stratford’s busy summer months.

Getting Around Town

Getting around Stratford, Ontario, is convenient and accessible with several local transportation options:

Bus Service:

Stratford has a reliable public bus system with seven routes covering most areas of the city. Buses operate Monday to Saturday from about 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with special Sunday service from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Use the city’s Real Time Tracker to see when the next bus is scheduled to arrive and download the HotSpot mobile app to purchase tickets and even pay for your parking space.

Taxis & Ride-sharing:

Stratford has several local taxi companies that provide 24/7 service. They’re convenient for getting to specific destinations around town quickly.

Please note that app services like Uber and Lyft do not currently operate in Stratford.

Cycling:

Stratford is a bike-friendly city with scenic routes along the Avon River and through the downtown area. Many hotels and accommodations offer bike rentals, and there are local shops where you can rent or buy bicycles for the day.

Walking:

Stratford is a walkable city, especially downtown and near the riverfront. Many key attractions, like the Stratford Festival Theatre, parks, shops, and restaurants, are within easy walking distance of each other.

Car Rentals:

If you prefer driving, there are car rental options available from nearby airports or local providers. Having a car makes it easier to visit surrounding areas or explore at your own pace.
