PLAYWRIGHT

Jennifer’s plays have been awarded the National New Play Network Smith Prize, the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere, the Susan Glaspell Award, the Kennedy Center’s National Science Playwriting Award, the NEFA Theatre Project Award (with Working Group), and been produced regionally across the US. Her first novel, Beneath the Stairs, was published by Atria (Simon & Schuster) in 2022, and her second book, Keep This for Me, is forthcoming from Atria in October 2025. An expat Canadian, she made theatre for many years in Toronto before crossing the border.

DIRECTOR

Robert is a NYC based Canadian director, actor, and writer. He is the co-founder of the Obie winning Vampire Cowboys.  He has directed all their productions including Soul Samurai, Alice in Slasherland, Fight Girl/Battle World, The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, and Revenge Song (Geffen Playhouse and Oregon Shakespeare Festival). Other directing credits include Mothers (Playwrights Realm), Vietgone (RMTC), Disgraced (Mirvish, Citadel), Fast Company (Ensemble Studio Theatre), the world premier of She Kills Monsters (The Flea), and the award winning Hamlet (solo) (Hope and Hell) which has toured for more than fifteen years in the US, Canada and the UK, most recently Soulpepper.

Birgitte Solem has worked at theatres across the country, and has spent several seasons over the last twenty years at The Blyth Festival, including performing and co-creating The Pigeon King, and as a playwright, debuting her first full-length mystery Resort to Murder: top seller of the 50th anniversary season. She is co-founder of Hope and Hell Theatre Co., starring in Disgraced (Mirvish Entertainment and The Citadel Theatre). With over 30 film and television credits, Birgitte was a series regular on Malory Towers for CBBC, appeared in the recent TIFF award winning short Motherland, and for two years was the voice of Volvo Canada.

LIGHT SET & COSTUME DESIGN

Darren is thrilled to be a part of the Apples in Winter team! Previous Design work: 12 Dinners [Set], Dinner with the Duchess [Set in a co-pro with Crows Theatre], Life Without [Set and Costume], The Fox [Set] (Here For Now), Something Rotten, Seussical The Musical, Mamma Mia! [Set] (Secondary Characters), and multiple set and lighting designs for dance and theatre schools in Vancouver. As an actor, he has worked across the globe. Many thanks to Fiona, Siobhan and SJ for the unwavering trust in me, and his family, friends and especially Hunter for their never ending love and support!

STAGE MANAGER

Sam is proud to be back at Here For Now for another season after stage-managing Paul and Linda Plan a Threesome and The Saviour in 2024.  Previously, he stage managed Where the Heart Is at the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia. A Mitchell, Ontario native, Sam is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English at McGill University in Montreal. He has made the rounds of McGill’s theatre scene, acting in several student plays and recently directing a production of Company. He would like to thank the HFN team and his family for their support.
