  • Darren Burkett

    LIFE WITHOUT : Set & Costume Design

    THE FOX : Set Design

    National/International credits include currently performing as Michael Wormwood in Matilda the Musical (1st National) where he also taught numerous workshops across the US and Angelina Ballerina (International Tour). He has also performed across Canada with such companies as The Ross Petty Panto, Drayton Entertainment, Thousand Island Playhouse, Western Canada Theatre, Persephone Theatre, The Arts Club Theatre, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Theatre Under the Stars, Royal City Musical Theatre. Darren is the recipient of the Jessie Richardson Award for Outstanding Performance for his work as the Snail in Carousel Theatre’s A Year With Frog and Toad, and an Ovation Award for Male Gypsy of the Year. Previous work as a choreographer/assistant choreographer include Kiss of the Spider Woman (Eclipse Theatre Company), Buddy: A Buddy Holly Story (The Globe Theatre), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Guys and Dolls (Carousel/Touchstone Theatre’s Lawyer Show), Eternal Hydra (Touchstone Theatre) and the motion picture Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. He has also been a dance educator and has taught around the globe for the past 16 years!

  • Bonnie Deakin

    Bonnie has spent many years in the Design Department at The Stratford Festival and is grateful for all she learned working with some of the world’s greatest designers. She has designed many productions including “Hedda Gabler”, “Man of La Mancha”, “Mamma Mia!”, “Oklahoma”, “Les Miserables”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, and “Elf, the Musical” . She recently designed (pre pandemic) “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” for Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon, after designing many of their mainstage shows. She has designed for Neptune Theatre, The Charlottetown Festival, Theatre Northwest, and The Globe Theatre, to name a few. Bonnie lives in Stratford with her actor husband, Ian Deakin and son Robin.

  • Beth Kates

    FROG SONG : Projection Design

    Beth Kates is an award winning Theatrical Lighting, Set, Costume and Projection Designer, Production Manager, and project consultant. She is the co-Creative Director/Designer of Playground Studios a design firm she started with partner Ben Chaisson that is dedicated to creating new spaces, re-inventing the use of traditional and non-traditional theatre spaces, as well as producing original work and offering a full spectrum of design and project management services. Beth leads masterclasses and workshops in Projection and Theatrical Design and is currently in development with Playground Studios and Playwrights Workshop Montreal to create a series of in-depth projection workshops geared towards established theatre artists. As a photographer, Beth’s work has been published internationally, and in February 2011 her photographs were exhibited for the first time in the gallery show Refracted at the Ben Navaee Gallery in Toronto. The ToyBox, created with Ben Chaisson and originally commissioned by the SummerWorks Festival, is an immersive environment filled with projections, lighting, music, costumes, games, drawing materials & building blocks. Designed to encourage interactivity, The ToyBox is currently in further development with a variety of arts and community organizations, including Theatre Passe Muraille as part of the 2012 Beyond Walls project. Playground Studios will also produce a new work called Untangled Headphones, a site-specific intimate audio performance, as well as Night Light Travels for Nuit Blanche Toronto.

  • Barbara Kozicki Beall

    Costume Design

    Barbara Kozicki Beall is thrilled to be part of the 2023 season! Graduate of the University of British Columbia's BFA Acting Program and recipient of the Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant for English Theatre, Barbara was last seen in Stratford as Amy Lee in Here For Now Theatre's inaugural production of Laundry & Bourbon. An experienced poi performer and Marilyn Monroe impersonator, Barbara is studying mounted archery and serves as co-chair of the UBCP/ACTRA Queer Performers Committee.

    Graduated from York University with a BFA in theatre and Randolph Academy for Performing Arts, theatre and telling human stories has been a constant passion in her life. Now using that passion to tell stories through documentary photography, Sarah is beyond thrilled to be back in theatre with the wonderful team of Here for Now Theatre.

  • Monique Lund

    MARGARET REID / MYTH OF THE OSTRICH

    Set & Costume Design

    Monique Lund is thrilled to be once again collaborating with Here For Now Theatre, where she previously directed and designed Every Day She Rose, The Tracks, Infinite Possibilities, and WHACK! (Associate Director) She has been a professional actor, singer and dancer for over thirty years and has worked from coast to coast in Canada and the U.S, most recently appearing in Controlled Damage at The Grand Theatre, Meet My Sister at The Port Stanley Festival Theatre, Hairspray at Theatre Aquarius and Priscilla Queen of The Desert for Drayton Entertainment. Other selected credits include: The Broadway Tour of Mamma Mia in which she played the role of Donna, the original Toronto companies of The Lord of the Rings, Joseph, The Who’s Tommy, and Crazy For You. She has also spent 12 seasons at the Stratford Festival in a variety of plays and musicals and 4 seasons at the Charlottetown Festival.In 2017 she won the Brian Macdonald award for emerging directors at the Stratford Festival Guthrie Awards. She calls Stratford her home and she sincerely thanks you for supporting live theatre!

    Thomas Ryder Payne is a composer and sound designer for theatre, dance and film. Selected past theatre work includes designs for Stratford, Shaw, Mirvish, Soulpepper, CanStage, Tarragon, Factory, TPM, YPT, Crows, Modern Times, Aluna, BIBT, Theatre Gargantua, Nightwood, Toronto Dance Theatre, NAC, Centaur, Theatre Calgary, GCTC, RMTC and many others. Thomas has received 6 Dora awards.
